In honor of Metalheadz 25th anniversary this year, I put my newfound 3d modeling skills to the test and designed this lamp based on their logo. Despite its appearance, it’s entirely 3d printed in plastic (except for the clear acrylic sheet) and only weighs a pound and a half (with batteries).

This was my first attempt at learning how to design something using Fusion 360. It was printed using PLA with a 20% infill at a 0.1 mm layer height. What wasn’t documented on this project was all the hours spent sanding and patching imperfections before paint, so you get to see the “TV Magic” version of this project. Oh Yes! Oh Yes!

I’ve had this domain name sitting around for a while, so I figured I should put it to good use. I recently (well, 6 months ago) purchased a Monoprice Maker Select Plus 3d printer. So, I decided to use this space to share some of the things I’ve created.

Most of the things I’ve made were models downloaded from the internet, but I’ve started to design my own models. I wasn’t very good at documenting some of my earlier projects, but moving forward I’ll make more of a point to show my process for how I get from printing (or even designing) the models, all the way through to the finished product.
